About Us
The Hindustani Music Circle is a group of students from Indian Institute of Science, established with the aim of popularizing Hindustani classical music, without diluting its content. The primary goal is to encourage critical listening as well as the preservation of the heritage of Hindustani music by introducing the present audience to the old masters, thereby imparting a sense of history. The group’s activity includes ‘Rag listening sessions’ where various intricacies of Hindustani music are discussed and recordings of the who’s who in the field are analyzed. A special importance is given to the niche areas of Hindustani music, which are slowly disappearing from the concert stage nowadays. The group broadcasts an online radio program titled "HMC PRESENTS". Concerts by renowned artists are also organized, in a Gharana-wise basis.
