The event "Journey to Agra" featured a lecture demonstration by the present doyenne of Agra Gharana, Vid. Lalith J. Rao. The topic was "An Introduction to the Agra-Atrauli Gharana" and the history of the Agra Gharana, from its roots in the Nauhar Vani to the present day masters, was highlighted. Short tracks of renowned masters were also played to highlight the essential characteristic traits. Vid. Lalith J. Rao also highlighted the important features of the gharana, like the Nom-Tom Alap by live demonstrations.
The second half of the event featured a vocal recital by Vid. Bharathi Prathap, a senior disciple of Vid. Lalith J Rao. She was accompanied by Sri Sumith Naik on Tabla, and Sri Madhusudan Bhat on the Harmonium. Vocal support was provided by Smt. Meera Sahasrabuddhe and Sri Manohar Patwardhan, both disciples of Vid. Lalith J. Rao. She began the recital with a Nom-Tom in Rag Bihag, followed by bandishes in Rag Bihag and Rag Malati Bihag. It was followed by two bandishes in Rag Bageshri. The recital concluded with a short exposition of Rag Surdasi Malhar.
